报告人简介

Dr. Chiu Yu-Lung, the professor of Physical Metallurgy, and the director of Centre for Electron Microscopy, University of Birmingham. He graduated from Northeastern University, China, in 1994 and got Ph.D degree in University of Hong Kong in 1999. Before moving to Birmingham in 2008, he has worked at Hong Kong (China), France, Switzerland, etc.

His research interests concerns on the microstructure and mechanical properties relationship of engineering alloys in the fields of aerospace and nuclear materials using electron microscopy and micro-mechanical characterization techniques.

He has published more than 150 papers, including top journals for metal materials. He has been supported by a healthy grant portfolio with competitive funding awarded by UKRI, EU, regional government and industry. Now, he is assuming fellow of Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining; member of Institute of Physics. In the aspect of teaching, he has supervised 30 PhD students, and a number of Masters.
